COCHITUATE: Evelyn G. (Bayer) Smith, 95, died peacefully with her family at her side on Thursday, September 5, 2013 following a period of declining health.
She was born in Natick on November 1, 1917 the daughter of the late Frank B. Bayer and Leila May (Christie) Bayer.
Evelyn was the wife of the late Raymond F. Smith who died on February 11, 1987.
She is survived by her children Judith A. Silveira and her husband Edward Silveira of Hudson; Janice L. Cassidy and her husband Walter Cassidy of Bellingham and Raymond F. Smith, Jr. and his wife Ann Smith of Easton. Also survived by 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn spent her formative years in Natick and has been a resident of Cochituate for over 68 years. She was a graduate of Natick High School with the Class of 1937. For many years she was the medical secretary for the late Ernest Damon, MD of Cochituate. She was a longtime communicant of St. Zepherin Church and was active in the Womens Club at the church. Evelyn enjoyed her many years with the Golden Tones, was one of the founding members and she served as Past President Emeritus. She remained active for several years with the Wayland Senior Center and enjoyed the time with her many friends. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her family.
Family and friends may gather at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road (Off Rte 30), Cochituate on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 9:00 am followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at the Parish of the Good Shepherd at St. Zepherins Church, 99 Main St (Rte 27), Cochituate.
Interment will follow in the Smith family lot in Lakeview Cemetery in Cochituate.
Per Mrs. Smith’s request, please celebrate her life by wearing bright colors to her funeral service.
