Obituary

Jack R. Mooney, 77, of Tifton died Friday, September 6, 2013, at the Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 8, 2013, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Glenn Ford will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Duran Paulk, Tyler Bryan, Carroll Mixon, David Moore, Ricky Bryan, Reed Ward, Harvey Kendrick and Matt Mixon will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the men of Calvary Baptist Church in Tifton. The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 7, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Mooney was born on March 26, 1936 in Montgomery, Alabama and was the son of Sam Mooney and Judson Finlayson Mooney, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. He was retired from Standard Coffee and attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was a big FSU football fan and was a veteran of the Unites States Air Force, where he served as a military policeman and canine officer.

Mr. Mooney is survived by his wife, Belle Lowry Paulk Mooney of Tifton; one step-son and his wife, Ricky and Elaine Paulk of Tifton; three step-daughters and their husbands, Lynn and Carroll Mixon of Tifton, Joy and Ricky Bryan of Tifton and Kara and David Moore of Rome; ten step-grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; and special friends, Carson and Diane Jones.
