FRANCO, of Green Harbor, formerly of Brockton, September 8, Gladys M. (Bates) Franco, 81 years. Beloved wife and High School sweetheart of the late Sam P. Franco. Loving mother of Jeanne M. Folloni and her husband Dan of Marshfield, James S. Franco and his wife Madge Walker of Hanson, John P. Franco of Green Harbor and the late Joseph A. Franco. Cherished grandmother of Maria and James Franco and Christina Lane and her husband Brendan, and Jacqueline, Joseph and Jessica Folloni. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Saturday, from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, (Rte 123) Brockton at 9am, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein Church (formerly St. Edwards) at 10am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 4-8pm. Gladys M. (Bates) Franco, 81 years, of Green Harbor, formerly of Brockton died suddenly Wednesday at the Beverly Manor in Plymouth. She was born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Arthur H. and Lillian M. (Long) Bates, and had been a lifelong resident of Brockton until moving to Green Harbor 30 years ago, after her husband retired as a Sergeant from the Brockton Police Department. Gladys was a life long Red Sox fan, and followed her husband’s football career through high school and college. She was a lover of dogs and cats, enjoyed the beach and was an avid reader. She also vacationed frequently in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Mrs. Franco was a member of the Our Lady of Assumption Church, Ladies Sodality, and Haborites. She is survived by one daughter Jeanne M. Folloni and her husband Dan of Marshfield, two sons James S. Franco and his wife Madge Walker of Hanson and John P. Franco of Green Harbor, 6 grandchildren Maria and James Franco, Christina Lane and her husband Brendan and all of Hanson and Jacqueline, Joseph and Jessica Folloni all of Marshfield, and several nieces and nephews. She was the wife of her high school sweetheart the late Sam P. Franco and mother of the late Joseph A. Franco.
