Raymond C. "Bill" Bedard 78 of 156 No.Brookfield Rd., died Monday, Sept. 6 at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.He leaves his wife of 58 years, Joan G. (Leger) Bedard, a son Paul R. Bedard and his wife Joanne M. of Worcester, a daughter Anne L. Towle and her husband Robert W. of E.Brookfield, a brother Leon Bedard of Tallahassee, Fl., a sister Lorraine Campbell of W. Palm Beach, Fl., three grandaughters and their husbands Rebecca and Mark Pellegrino of Barre, Amanda and Daniel Lambert of Auburn, Sarah and Jamie Faucher of Spencer, two grandsons Gregory Bedard of Spencer and Bryan Bedard of Chattanooga, Tenn., four great-grandchildren Robert, Samuel and Grace Pellegrino and Abigail Faucher, many nieces and nephews. Mr. Bedard was a superintendent for Granger Construction Co. in Worcester where he worked for 35 years, retiring in 1980. He was a Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the European and No. African Theaters. He was a member of the Boulette-Skytem American Legion Post in E. Brookfield and the V.F.W. Post 3439 in No. Brookfield.Mr. Bedard was very active in his community including being a member of St. John the Baptist Church and serving on the Parish Council and Building Committee. He was a former longtime member of the E.Brookfield Fire Dept. and Police Dept. where he served as Police Chief for 8 years. He was a member of the E.Brookfield Finance Commitee and School Building Committee. In 2003, he was Honorary Grand Marshall in the Town's Memorial Day Parade.Born in Spencer, he was the son of Charles and Nelda (Collette) Bedard. Along with his wife, he wintered in Palm Beach, Fl. for many years.The funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 10 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, Blaine and No. Brookfield Rds., E.Brookfield. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, E.Brookfield with military honors. Calling hours are Thursday, Sept. 9 from 4 to 7p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church, N.Brookfield Rd., E.Brookfield, 01515 or to a charity of the donor's choice.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
