Obituary

Amelia Vickers Carver, 67, of Wray, Georgia, died Friday, August 30, 2013 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 4 PM Sunday, September 1, 2013, at Satilla Baptist Church, Irwin County with the Rev. William Pope, the Rev. Joe Vaughn, and the Rev. Craig Barnette officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 Saturday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.

Mrs. Carver was born November 16, 1945, in Wray to Wawena Harper Vickers and the late Lloyd Austin Vickers. Mrs. Carver was the bookkeeper for Little Pantries and Colonial Village. She had lived in the Wray community all of her life. Mrs. Carver loved her family and grandchildren. She was a member of Satilla Baptist Church and the Ladies Sunday school class.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years: W. A. Carver; daughters: Loye and Rev. William Pope of Douglas and Beverly and James Griffin of Wray; son: W.A. Jr. and Susan Carver of Broxton; four grandsons: Casey Pope, Cole Carver, Cane Carver, and Wade Sumner; mother, Wawena Vickers of Wray; brother: Wayne and Sandra Vickers of Wray; sister: Marilyn and George Cook of Lax. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death a grandson: Cody Pope.
