NATICK: Doris M. Parker, age 86, a retired Natick schoolteacher, died peacefully on Thursday afternoon, August 29, 2013 at Saint Patrick’s Manor in Framingham.
A Natick native and lifelong resident, she was a daughter of the late Abraham and Alfreda (Durr) Parker. Following her graduation from Natick High School, Miss Parker earned a Baccalaureate in Education from Framingham State Teacher’s College.
Miss Parker began her career as a 5th grade teacher with the Natick Public Schools in 1949. Originally at the Johnson School, Miss Parker spent the majority of her tenure at the Center School. She moved in 1978 to Memorial Elementary School as a 4th grade teacher. Miss Parker retired in the summer of 1984. An enthusiastic traveler, when at home she most enjoyed time with family, reading, working crossword puzzles and tending her garden.
Sister of the late Arthur Parker, she is survived by a brother, Ernest Parker of Natick; two nephews, Ronald Parker and his wife Anne of Framingham, and Robert Parker and his wife Lisa of Charleston, SC; and a niece, Janice Wonson and her husband Dick of Haverhill.
Her funeral will be from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street at Natick Common, Natick, on Saturday, August 31st at 8:00a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Patrick’s Church at 9:00a.m. Burial will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery.
