Robert K. Sutherland, age 62, of Berkley, died unexpectedly, Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Morton Hospital. He was the husband of Kathleen P. (Bombard) Sutherland. Born in Boston and raised in Brockton, he was the son of the late Howard C. and Gertrude M. (Talbot) Sutherland. Bob was a 1969 graduate of Brockton High School and attended Massasoit Community College. He was a decorated veteran of Vietnam and also served in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan. He also served in the Army National Guard for over 30 years and Homeland Security during the Olympics. For over 20 years, he owned and operated Sutherland O’Hearne Construction Company with his close friend and partner John O’Hearne. Bob was a man who loved his family, country and serving in the military.
In addition to his wife he is survived by four children Sean and his wife Allison of East Taunton, Kerri, Amanda and Brian Sutherland all of Berkley; three grandchildren Julien and Brielle Knight and Adrianna Sutherland; two brothers Howard C. “Skip” Sutherland, Jr. and Richard D. Sutherland Sr. (Ret BFD) and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Joseph J. Sutherland (BPD).
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Wednesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Thursday at 8am for a funeral mass in Christ the King Parish at 9am.
