SALEM- Frank T. Frann, 82, husband of the late Victoria M. (Arcisz) Frann, of Salem, died Monday evening, September 6, 2004 at his residence following a brief illness.
Born in Blazkowa, Poland, he was the son of the late Stanislaw and Rozalia (Pruchnik) Fraczek.
Prior to his retirement in the late 1980's he was employed as a draftsman for 20 years at the Land Court at the State House in Boston. He previously worked as a land surveyor and a sheet metal fabricator.
During WWII, while a member of the Polish Freedom Fighters, Mr. Frann was captured and sent to a concentration camp at Dachau, Germany. Upon his liberation by American troops, he joined the United States Army Air Corps and served in Germany through the end of the war and as a part of the occupation forces until the early 1950's. He then came to this country and reenlisted in the Air Force.
He was a member of the DAV and the Veragua Council, Knights of Columbus in Salem. A communicant of the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem, he was the Bingo Director for several years.
He is survived by his fiancé, Margaret Collins of Beverly, one son, Steven Frann of Merrimack, New Hampshire, one daughter and son-in-law, Dianne V. and Robert A. Earl of Salem, four grandchildren, Lexus, Amber, Brandon, and Heath Earl, all of Salem, one brother, Alexander and his wife Jane Fraczek of Salem, one sister, Janina Bugno of Korfantow, Poland, a sister-in-law, Anna Fraczek of Salem and several nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Regina D. Freeman and brother of the late John Fraczek and Genowefa Pacana.
His funeral service will be held Friday, Sept. 10, 2004 at 9 am from the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 am at the St. John The Baptist Church, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Burial is in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem.
