Worcester – George E. Dion Sr., 93, of 52 Country Club Blvd. died on Monday September 6 in the Hospice Residence after an illness.
Mr. Dion is survived by his wife of 65 years Rita (Allaire) Dion of Worcester; three sons George E. Dion Jr. of Altus, OK, Richard P. Dion of Leicester and Robert J. Dion of Nashua, NH; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. He was born in Lowell, MA son of Adolphe and Clara (Dufresne) Dion and lived in Worcester for most of his life.
Mr. Dion served in the United States Army and the Marine Corps. during World War II. He worked as a crane operator for 18 years at the former Reed & Prentice Co. and later worked for Perkins Machine Co. in Warren, MA.
He was a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church and it’s Golden Age Society. Mr. Dion also belonged to the Franco American Club and the 52 Club of Country Club Blvd. at Lincoln Village.
The funeral will be held on Friday Sept. 10 from the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home (www.royfuneral.com) 12 Hammond St. with a mass at 10 AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church 53 Illinois St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are on Thursday Sept. 9 from 5 to 8 PM in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Dion’s name to the Hospice Residence 10 Judith Road Worcester, MA 01602.
