Bruce C. Soderholm, 93 of West Bridgewater passed away peacefully at EPOCH Senior Healthcare in Harwich on August 21, 2013.
He was born in Lynn, MA and raised in Brockton. He graduated from Brockton High in 1937 and then attended Stockbridge Agricultural College at the University of Mass in Amherst. He raised his family in West Bridgewater.
Bruce was blessed to have two “loves of his life.” He was married for many years to the late Mary (Healey)(Wood) Soderholm who was the mother of Jeff Wood and his wife Joann of Bridgewater, Chris Wood of Chicago and Robert Wood. He was previously married to Marjorie (Augustine) Soderholm of Brockton and they raised four children in West Bridgewater and Cape Cod; Bruce Soderholm, Jr. and his wife Janice of Harwich and Naples, Florida; Linda Collier of Wilmington, Delaware; the late Carol Paquette and her husband Robert of Florida and the late David Soderholm. He is also survived by 13 wonderful grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Alma DeVine.
Bruce truly loved life and was the eternal optimist. He particularly enjoyed playing cards with his friends and golfing. He made his first “hole in one” at Easton Country Club at age 87. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Bruce was the proprietor of the Hillcrest Dairy and Dutchland Drive Thru in West Bridgewater. He then spent many years with Brockton Dodge and received many national sales awards. He finished his career at the Easton Country Club. He was a charter member of the West Bridgewater Lions Club and served as the District Governor of Lions International. He also was past president of the Brockton Commercial Club and a member of the Masons (Baalis Sanford Lodge) for over 50 years.
Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton on Sunday 4-7 pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 am followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery.
