Stella (Passanisi) Saia, a long-time Stoneham resident died Sunday at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, after a brief illness. She was 64.
Born in Augusta, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and the late Carmela (Carrabino) Passanisi. Stella came to the United States when she was 17 and settled in the West End. A Stoneham resident for over 25 years, Stella was a loving and dedicated wife and mother who took a special delight in her 7 grandchildren. She was also a member of the St. Domenic Society.
She was the beloved wife of Anthony Saia. A devoted mother to Frank Saia and his wife Josephine of Wakefield, Nancy Vigorito and her husband Salvatore of Stoneham, Anthony Saia, Jr. and his wife Tina of Wakefield and also leaves 7 loving grandchildren. She was the sister of Ottavio of Stoneham, Jimmy of Plainville, Joe and Angelo both of FL, Leonardo of Venezuela, Carmela Pustizzi of Somerville, Ianina and Salvatore Passanisi both of Sicily.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 9 AM in St. Patrick Church, Stoneham. Relatives and friends may visit at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, Medford, Tuesday from 5 - 8.
