Grace L. (Andrews) (King) Shaw of Forestdale, MA passed away peacefully on Monday August 19, 2013 at 103 years of age.
Born March 15, 1910 in Norton, MA, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Ora A. (Greene) Andrews.
She enjoyed an active life full of family & friends, worldwide travel and an astute mind. Taking a walk in the woods with Grace was a lesson in how you can snack off the earth.
Her family, friends and beloved cat were given the gift being able to say goodnight during her final days.
Grace graduated from the Hyannis Normal School (Teaching College) and before raising a family, she taught 1st – 6th grade in a 1 room schoolhouse heated by a wood stove. Grace worked in Boston for Alexander & Alexander Insurance Agency for over 30 years.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the dedicated staff and friends at the Trade Winds Day Program in Sandwich, for all the laughs, love and special occasions they shared with Grace. Also a heartfelt thank you to Nettie Johnson for the faithful visits and many school girl giggles. .
She is survived by her 2 daughters, Marilyn A. (King) Williams and her husband Harold E. “Bill” Williams, Jr. of Norton, and Jackie (Shaw) Dittrich of Forestdale. 2 Grandchildren , Everett “Andy” Williams and his wife Robin M. Williams of Cumberland, RI and Tara Murphy and her husband Timothy Murphy of Plymouth, her grandson-in-law, Joseph C. Titus of Norton. and 2 great grandchildren Lauren and Tyler Murphy of Plymouth.
Grace is predeceased by her sister Marian Andrews - Lopez, 3 of her children Charlotte and Robert King and Edward Shaw, and 2 grandchildren George Everett Williams and Patty (Williams) Titus.
Private graveside funeral services were held on Saturday, August 24th at the Crane Cemetery in Norton.
