QUINEBAUG, CT– Edward J. Wojciechowski, 82, of 54 Watson Road, died Sunday, Sept. 5, in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam.
He leaves his wife of 60 years, Helen A. (Noga) Wojciechowski; 2 sons, Robert Wojciechowski of Port Orange, FL, and David Wojciechowski of Quinebaug; a daughter, Nancy Murray of Farmington; a sister, Anna Makowski of Holyoke; 5 grandchildren, Joseph, Wendy, Shawn, Robb and Scott Wojciechowski; 5 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Christopher, Ryan, Alex, and Maggie; an aunt, Florence Szydlik of Southbridge; nephews and nieces.
He was born and raised in Webster, son of Edward J. and Anna (Radzik) Wojciechowski, and lived briefly in North Grosvenordale before moving here in 1950. He graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1940. He was an Army veteran of World War II..
Mr. Wojciechowski worked as a truck driver at Wajer’s Express in Dudley for 40 years, retiring in 1982. He also operated Gay Time Records Company here for over 25 years. Besides selling records, he organized dances at Indian Ranch in Webster.
He was a member of the American Legion, Post 1008, in North Grosvenordale. He was a member Saint Stephen’s Church. He was an organizer of the Thompson Little League in 1956. He was a member of the teamster’s union.He also was a past member of the Quinebaug Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Boston Red Sox fan and loved polka music.
The funeral, with military honors, will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, from the Sitkowski & Malboeuf Funeral Home, 340 School St., Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, corner of Routes 197 & 131, Quinebaug. Burial will be private in St. Joseph Garden of Peace, Webster. Calling hours are from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, Sept. 8, in the funeral home.
