Fred J. Brown, III, age 71, of Irwin County, Georgia died Saturday, August 17, 2013, in Defuniak Springs, Florida.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM, Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Evangelist Teressa McDuffie officiating. Pepper Wilkes will give the eulogy. Interment will follow in Troup Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Brown was born May 28, 1942, in Coffee County, Georgia to the late Fred Joshua Brown, Jr. & Laura Smith Brown. He was a former manager for Shaw Industries and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Brown enjoyed fishing and gardening and especially reading and watching westerns.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years: Dorothy Hulett Brown; two daughters: Doris Brown Harper and Laura Brown (Armando) Noboa, all of Irwin County; two sons: Fredrick Joshua (Patricia) Brown, IV, of Leavenworth, Kansas and James Roy Brown and fiancé Melissa of Irwin County; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers: Paul Brown and Hancel Brown, both of Douglas, and Charles Brown of Nahunta; and two sisters: Katherine Rohn of Douglas and Patricia Davis of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: David Brown.
