Isabel M. MacInnis, a longtime resident of Wilmington passed away peacefully on August 18th following a brief period of declining health. She was 87. Isabel was the beloved wife of the late Ronald F. "Ringy" MacInnis and together they shared 48 years of marriage prior to his passing. Born in Inverness, Nova Scotia she was one of 12 children of the late Norman and Catherine (White) MacDonald.
Isabel was raised and educated in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She came to the United States 57 years ago, making Wilmington her home and together with her late husband they brought six wonderful children into the world. Mostly devoted to her family, Isabel enjoyed keeping up on family news and was especially proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. She worked for sixteen years as a programmer at Compugraphic prior to her retirement. In her leisure time she enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox and was an avid reader.
Along with her husband, Isabel is predeceased by her sisters, Christine Roch, Theresa Basker and Agnes MacDonald, brothers Neil and Vincent MacDonald.
She is survived by her devoted children, Daniel MacInnis and his wife Karen of Wilmington, Ronald MacInnis and his wife June of Woburn, Bruce MacInnis and his wife Karen of Salisbury, James MacInnis and his wife Jayne of Billerica, Kathy MacInnis and her husband Richard Ginsburg of Tewksbury, Lorraine Ronan and her husband Scott of Billerica. She was the loving grandmother of 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Sister of Faye MacNeil of Pictou, Nova Scotia, Kay Paetkau of Hamilton, Ontario, Margaret MacKinnon, Lorraine Campbell, Joanne McIntyre all of Allston, and Angus MacDonald of Inverness, Nova Scotia. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Friday, August 23rd, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, at 10 a.m.. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Isabel's memory to, Friends of the Wilmington Memorial Library, 175 Middlesex Ave, Wilmington, MA 01887 or the charity of one's choice.
