Obituary

SPENCER: Evelyn (Deyo) Putnam, 103, formerly of 23 ½ High Street, died Wednesday, July 17 in the Lutheran Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center in Worcester.

Her husband Charles S. Putnam, Jr. died in 2003. She leaves two daughters Constance P. Halfpenny of Woodbury, MN and Judith P. Donathan of Orleans, 4 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Putnam was born in Worcester, daughter of Ernest E. and Bessie P. (Parmelee) Deyo. She graduated from North High School and Worcester State College. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Spencer where she was a church secretary, co-founder of various prayer and study groups, she sang in their choir for 10 years, was a member of the Women’s Fellowship, the Forthnightly Club and the Monday Club. She did clerical work for the Worcester Ecumenical Council for several years. She worked at the Richard Sugden Library.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 22 at 11:00 AM in the First Congregational Church of Spencer, 205 Main Street, Spencer. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Pine Grove Cemetery, Spencer. J. HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer is directing arrangements.
