Dorothy (Correia) Castro, age 83 of Somerset, passed away Aug. 13, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Belmiro Castro and the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Tavares) Correia. Dorothy was a 1947 graduate of BMC Durfee High School. Prior to retiring in 1991, Dorothy worked for 16 years at the Naval Underwater Systems Center, Newport, RI as an Administrative Assistant in the Purchasing Dept.
In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her children: Scott Castro of Edgartown, MA, Matthew Castro of Vineyard Haven, MA, and Elizabeth Souza, husband Bryan of Westport, MA; grandchildren: Jessica Souza-Bridges, husband Matthew, Ava & Adam Castro; a great grandson: Jacob Bridges; siblings: Arthur Correia, Idalina Cabral, & Alice Cabeceiras all of Fall River; & many nieces & nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel, Antone, Joseph, & Adelino Correia, Mary Travis, & Lena Mello.
