TEWKSBURY - Janet E. “Jan” (Thomas) Hubert, 45, a well known member of the community,bus driver, and former school lunch manager, died Sunday, Sept. 5, at her Tewksbury home,after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of 25 years of Eugene A. “Gene” Hubert.
She was born, October 2, 1959, a daughter of Ella (Bernsson) Thomas of Tewksbury, and the lateFrank Thomas. She lived her entire life in Tewksbury, and graduated Tewksbury Memorial HighSchool with the class of 1977.
She was a former Girls softball coach, and assistant coach for boys baseball, during the years ofraising her children.
In her earlier career, she was the cafeteria manager of the Tewksbury Memorial High School andlater the John Ryan School in Tewksbury. Most recently, she worked as a driver for theTewksbury Transit Company.
She was a life long member of the Tewksbury Congregational Church.
Besides her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Jesseca Hubert of Tewksbury; ason, Eugene A. “Gene” Hubert Jr. of Tewksbury; a granddaughter, Dallas Hubert of Tewksbury;two brothers and sisters-in-law, Phillip and his wife Gloria (Berube) Thomas of Lowell, Paul andhis wife Linda (Leitos) Thomas of Tewksbury; two sisters and their spouses, Carol Cummings andher spouse Michael Watroba of Tualatin, OR, and Judy and her husband Ralph Bannister ofLowell; one aunt, Barbara Buckley of Lowell, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service was held Tuesday evening, Sept. 7, in the TewksburyCongregational Church.
