Barbara J. (Rose) Sylvia, 66, of New Bedford died August 8, 2013 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a long illness.
She was the wife of the late Bernard G. Sylvia.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Barbara J. (Oliveira) Rose, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Mrs. Sylvia was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
She was formerly employed by One Beacon Insurance Company.
Survivors include her son, Jason Sylvia and his wife Stacy of Las Vegas, NV; a brother, Benjamin Rose, Jr. of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Benita Rose Monteiro and her husband Gene of Dartmouth and Kathy Rose Davis of Norwood; her aunt, Ana Gonsalves of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Reynold Rose and JoAnn Zaccari.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, August 13th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, August 12th from 4-8 PM.
