Bernadette M. Bacigalupo, of Woburn and Siesta Key, FL formerly of Needham passed away peacefully on August 9th, at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of Paul F. Bacigalupo Sr., together they shared 54 years of marriage. Born in Woburn she was one of four children of the late Manuel R. and Mary J. (Gancalves) Pereira.
Bernadette was raised and educated in Woburn where she attended St. Charles School and was a graduate of Woburn High School. Bernadette had a wonderful personality and enjoyed being social and interacting with people, always offering her help and support where it was needed. Throughout her life Bernadette was an avid and passionate tennis player and for many years was very active with the Needham Tennis Club. She also loved to play Bridge with family and friends and especially enjoyed her time at the Woburn Senior Center where she was very active and formed many special friendships. In her spare time Bernadette also enjoyed knitting and crochet. However, her greatest joy was her family and she cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her beloved husband, Bernadette is survived by her devoted children, Paul F. Bacigalupo Jr. of Needham, Carol Fallon of Framingham and Diane Doherty and her husband Thomas of Woburn. She was the loving grandmother of Connor Fallon, Max, Julia and Jake Doherty. Cherished sister of Hilda Abreu and her husband John, Adeline Sweeney and her late husband David, all of Woburn, the late James Pereira and his surviving wife Agatha Pereira of Peabody. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A funeral mass celebrating Bernadette's life will be held in St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn, Tuesday, August 13th, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with entombment at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Bernadette's memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
