New Bedford – Melissa A. (Cornell) Carvalho, 39, passed away unexpectedly at home on August 8, 2013. She was the wife of Brian Carvalho.
Mrs. Carvalho was born in New Bedford, daughter of Alice (Carvalho) Bessette and the late Roger I. Cornell, Sr., and was a lifelong resident of the city.
In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her daughter: Bryanna L. Lopes of New Bedford; her son: Samuel Ramos, Jr. of New Bedford; 5 sisters: Marilyn Baker of Florida, Maureen McAuliffe of Freetown, Missie Campbell of New Bedford, Dusty Defino of New Bedford and Fantasia Cornell of New Bedford; 4 brothers: Roger I. Cornell, Jr., Brian P. Cornell, Matthew J. Cornell and Timothy J. Cornell, all of New Bedford; her step-mother: Carol (Cook) Cornell of New Bedford; step-father: James Bessette of New Bedford; her nephew and special friend: Robert “Spanky” McAuliffe, II of New Bedford; and numerous other nieces & nephews.
She was sister of the late Mark R. Cornell and Melanie Baker.
