New Bedford- Antonio M. Saltao, age 89, died on Thursday, August 8th at the Southeastern Massachusetts Health & Rehab Center. He was the beloved husband of Maria M. (Simoes) Saltao. Born in Praia de Buarros, Figueira da Foz, Portugal he was the son of the late Preciosa Rodrigues (Bento) and the late Antonio Saltao. He moved to this country in 1957 and resided in Gloucester, MA. In 1961 he moved to New Bedford. Antonio was employed as a Fisherman and was a member of the United Fisherman’s Club.
His survivors include his wife Maria; 2 children: Rosa B.S. Saltao Olivier wife of Alan Olivier of Somerset and Tony Saltao New Bedford and grandson Andre Antonio Saltao Olivier of Somerset.
Mr. Saltao’s visiting hours will be on Tuesday, August 13th from 5-8 P.M. at the Perry Funeral Home 111 Dartmouth St. New Bedford, MA. Burial will be private. Please omit flowers; in accordance with his wishes he will be cremated.
