WORCESTER-Pauline Julia (McKeon) Lamarche, 62, of 253 June Street, died peacefully at home, Thursday, September 2nd surrounded by her family after waging an arduous and courageous fight against cancer. Mrs. Lamarche is survived by her children, Charles M. Lamarche, Jr. and his wife Rose of Slidell, LA, Michael S. Lamarche and his wife Sarina of Minneapolis, MN, Steven M. Lamarche and his wife Shannon of Cataumet, MA, and Jennifer N. Lamarche and her boyfriend Matthew Harding of Worcester, a sister, Patricia Masiello of Auburn, 2 brothers, Edward McKeon and his wife Marion of Dewitt, MI and Don Simmler of Minneapolis, MN, 2 step grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren, many nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was born in Worcester the daughter of John M. and Hilda E. (Simmler) McKeon, graduated from Commerce High School and received her Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree from Worcester State College. Pauline was an accomplished and passionate educator who was a founding member, Master Teacher and then Principal of the Massachusetts Academy of Mathematics and Science of Worcester at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Pauline established her zeal for student achievement as a teacher, Computer Specialist, and Systems Manager in the Auburn Public Schools and for the town of Auburn. Pauline also instructed students at Anna Maria College, Assumption College, Worcester State College and the Oxford, Grafton, Wachusett and Worcester Public Schools. Pauline had many members of her extended educational family. She advocated for the advancement of instruction in Math, Science and Technology. She held various committee and board positions in organizations such as the National Consortium for Secondary Schools Specializing in Math, Science and Technology, The Massachusetts State Science Fair Committee, and Massachusetts Computer Using Educators. Pauline has also received many accolades and honors for her accomplishments and contributions to the education of our youth.
The funeral is Tuesday, September 7th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Blessed Sacrament Church, 555 Pleasant Street. Burial is in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Monday, September 6th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home.
