Emma Pearl Purvis, 90, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at her residence.
Graveside services will be held 4 PM, Friday, August 9, 2013 at Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia with Elder Travis Fussell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM, Friday before the service at The Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Purvis was born April 8, 1923 in Habersham County, Georgia to the late Jesse and Rosa Lee Jones McGee. She lived in the community most of her life and was a retired orderly and worked in the dietary department at the Irwin County Hospital. She loved gardening and cooking and was a very hard worker.
Mrs. Purvis is survived by a son: Virgil & Huey Purvis of Ocilla; a grandson: Virgil Purvis, Jr. also of Ocilla; a granddaughter: Angela Kay Browning of Atlanta and a great-grandchild: Alain Browning; a brother: Herman McGee of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Ralph Purvis; three brothers and two sisters.
