Obituary

CHICOPEE – Jacques P. “Phil” Sicard, 82, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Sunday, August 4, 2013. He passed into Eternal Life at Willimansett Center East in Chicopee surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family who were his devoted caregivers. He was born in Holyoke on May 12, 1931, a beloved son of the late Ernest and Emma (Bouchard) Sicard. He was raised between Holyoke and Willimansett and lived in the Willimansett section of Chicopee for most of his life. He served his country in the Army National Guard of Massachusetts and attained the rank of Corporal. He was employed for over 36 years as a heat treat operator at the former Moore Drop Forge Company which later became Easco Hand Tools and then Danaher Tool Company, all in Springfield. Active in his faith, he was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett where he was a member of their League of the Sacred Heart. Phil was a quiet man who loved his family and showered them with his love and affection which was returned to him a thousand fold. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Constance D. “Connie” (Remillard) Sicard. They were married on October 17, 1964 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and were blessed with over 48 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving children, William J. Sicard and his wife, Mary Lou (Hebert) Sicard, of Chicopee and James A. Sicard and his wife, Rose-Mary (Fitzgerald) Sicard, of Westfield; his three cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jack, and Nicholas Sicard; his two cherished step-grandsons, Justin Champagne of Chicopee and Joshua Champagne of Ohio; his two dear step-sisters, Constance Turgeon of Maine and Rita Trudell of Holyoke; his dear step-brother, Roland Gregoire and his wife, Peggy, of South Hadley; his dear brothers-in-law of the Remillard family, Donald Remillard and Hubert “Joe” Remillard and his wife, Patricia, all of Chicopee, and Vincent Remillard and his wife, Joyce, of Ebensburg, PA; and his many dear nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother and sister, Roy Sicard and Rita Desjardins. His funeral will be held on Friday morning, August 9, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony of Padua Church, 56 Saint Anthony Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 8, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
