Herbert A. Choate, 79, of Medway died suddenly August 4 in Milford Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Kathleen L. (McGowan) Choate.
Born in Framingham, October 5, 1933, the son of the late Arthur G. and Esther L. (Winslow) Choate, Mr. Choate was a lifelong Medway resident.
Mr. Choate had been the parts manager at Medway Auto Sales for many years.
He had also been a member of the Medway Call Fire Department for 38 years retiring as Assistant Chief.
He had been a member of the Medway Firefighters Association and the Norfolk County Forest Fire Wardens Association.
Mr. Choate served in the Army during the mid-1950’s attaining the rank of Specialist 3rd Class.
Herb loved being a member of the Fire Department. He also enjoyed playing cards, Sunday drives with his family and going to Cape Cod.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Maureen Choate - Allen and her husband Don of Lexington Park, Maryland and Timothy E. Choate and his wife Shannon of Medway.
He is also survived by his siblings Arnold Choate of Uxbridge and Marilyn Sontona of Conyers, Georgia. He was the brother of the late Richard and Carlton Choate.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Rebecca and Joshua Allen and Aubree Buyny.
His funeral service will be held on Friday August 9 in the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home (www.ginelyfuneralhomes.com) 3 Barber Street Medway at 11:00.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Medway.
Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4-8.
