Christie Ann Vickers Murphy, 27, of Bryan, Texas (formerly of Ocilla) went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Bryan, Texas.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2013, at Ocilla United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jay Roberson officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until the funeral hour at the church on Tuesday.
Christie was born November 4, 1985, in Tifton, Georgia to Don R. Vickers and Kimberly McGowan Prather. She attended Irwin County High School and earned her Associates degree in Nursing from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton in 2009. She was an avid competition dancer and a devoted wife to her husband, Kyle. Christie was a registered nurse working in telemetry and pre-op with St. Joseph’s Hospital in Bryan, Texas. She was a member of Ocilla United Methodist Church.
Christie is survived by her husband: Kyle Murphy of Bryan, Texas; her father: Don R. Vickers of Ocilla; her mother: Kim Prather of Ocilla; a sister and brother-in-law: Amy & Tate Arnold of Ocilla; her father and mother-in-law: Ken & Tanya Murphy of Tifton; brothers-in-law: Kris & Melissa Murphy of Tifton and Scott & Brandy Murphy of Canton; nieces and nephews: Gowan and Gabe Arnold of Ocilla, Kirsten, Hayden, and Hannah Grace Murphy, all of Tifton, and Madeleine, and Patrick Murphy of Canton; grandparents: Doris R. Vickers and Nancy Poynor, all of Ocilla, John & Eleanor McGowan of Fitzgerald, and Alton & Dannie Sparks of Tifton; aunts and uncles: Darryl Vickers of Newnan, Pam McNatt of Atlanta, Jay McGowan of Warner Robins, Neta Sparks and Stormy & Wendy Sparks, all of Tifton, and Beverly Sparks & Allen Tibbetts of Athens, with whom Kyle & Christie lived for a time. Also surviving Christie is her Chihuahua, Tinkerbell.
