Polly McSwain, 83, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, August 1, 2013, at Heritage Healthcare in Fitzgerald.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 3, 2013 at Christian Fellowship with the Rev. Rex Johnson and Bro. Sammy Smith officiating. Interment will be private.
Mrs. McSwain was born January 24, 1930, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late William and Louise Troup Young. She lived in the community most of her life. She was a 1947 graduate of Ocilla High School and, along with her husband, was owner and operator of Mack Produce in Fitzgerald. Mrs. McSwain loved her family, playing bingo, flowers and fishing, and not necessarily in that order. She was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two daughters: Sylvia McSwain Walls and her husband Tyrone Walls of Fitzgerald and Debbie McSwain Gibson and her husband Jim Gibson of Brunswick; three grandchildren: Clint Walls, Clay Walls Jay Gibson; four great-grandchildren: Ashley Walls, Tyler Walls, Sabra Walls and Jasmyn Walls; a sister: Rosa & J.R. Ellis of Fitzgerald; and a brother: Tommy & Jean Carol Young of Osierfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Deane McSwain, on July 24, 2013 as well as four brothers and one sister.
