Grady Bill Smith, 64, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, July 28, 2013, at his hunting club in Ben Hill County, preparing for the upcoming deer season.
Funeral services will be held, 11 AM, Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Arbor Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Dr. Lloyd Stembridge officiating. The interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mr. Smith was born December 17, 1948, in Telfair County to the late Hoke and Maybelle Hulett Smith. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Germany for four years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR and the Atlanta Braves. One of his favorite pastimes was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Ocilla Church of God.
He is survived by his wife: Sylvia Shaddix Smith of Fitzgerald; two daughters: Cheryl Smith Tucker (Newt) of Ocilla; Catherine Leigh Smith of Fitzgerald; four grandchildren: Gracie Tucker and J. T. Tucker both of Ocilla, Deanna Smith and Jeffery Smith both of Fitzgerald; one brother: Pearl Smith of Metter; three sisters and one special, brother friend: Leon Smith of Fitzgerald. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother.
