Canty, Paul M. Sr. of Duxbury (formerly of Charlestown), passed away on July 26, 2013. Beloved husband of Maureen (Coghlan) Canty. Loving father of Paul M. (PJ) Canty, Jr. and his wife Heather, of Duxbury. Beloved Grandfather of Hannah, Lily and Caroline. Dear brother of Ruthellen Chardavoyne and her husband Albert of Charlestown and the late James F. Canty. Proud son in law of Doris and the late Maurice "Randy" Coghlan of Marshfield. Brother in law to Richard (Michelle) Coghlan of Bourne and Robert (Elizabeth) Coghlan of Milton. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Son of the late James F. and Florence (Oneal) Canty.
Paul served 25 years as the Wiring Inspector for the Town of Duxbury and was also a retired employee of Donovan Electric Construction Co. of Pembroke after 18 years of dedicated service.
From childhood, Paul was actively involved with Camp Wing in Duxbury, a camp for inner city children. Over the years, he served in different capacities at his beloved camp and was a mentor to many.
Visiting hours will be held at MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street, Rte. 139 in Marshfield on Wednesday July 31 from 4 to 8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Thursday, August 1 at 9:00am followed by a Funeral Mass at Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St., Duxbury at 10:00am. Internment in Mayflower Cemetery.
