Obituary

Charles L. Dewberry of Water Valley, MS
died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Yalobusha General Hospital. He was born January 12, 1935 in Humnoke, AR to the late Charles L., Sr. and Pauline Ross Dewberry. Charles served in the United States Navy during the Korean War and received the National Defense Service Medal, the China Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. Upon leaving the military he received a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from Bethel University in McKenzie, TN. Charles pursued a career in law enforcement and retired as Chief of Police in Black Mountain, NC. He was a former member of Cedar Mountain Baptist Church in Ashville, NC and after moving to Water Valley he faithfully attended and supported First Baptist Church of Water Valley. Charles was an avid golfer, enjoyed good food and dearly loved his family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. A graveside service will be held in the Camp Ground Cemetery in Lafayette County, MS with Bro. Raymond Aven officiating.

Charles is survived by three daughters, Renee Jayne (Andy) and Cheryl Proffitt both of Ashville, NC, and Tammy Dewberry Lancaster of Memphis, TN; two sons, Chuck Dewberry of Memphis, TN and Frank Green (Elaine) of Marion, NC; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Henderson Dewberry and his daughter, Tina Sandidge.
