Mr. James W. Caliri, age 74, of Medford passed away peacefully at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn C. (Hayes) and together they shared 55 years of marriage. Born in Newton he was the son of the late Frank and Elizabeth (Ward) Caliri.
James was raised and educated in Waltham. He honorably served in United States Army during the Vietnam War. James retired from the MBTA where he worked as a Sheet Metal Mechanic for forty years and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 17. James was a quiet man with a wonderful sense of humor. He was a talented craftsman able to build anything and was always keeping busy with different projects. His greatest joy was his family and he cherished spending time together with them, especially his loving grandchildren.
In addition to his beloved wife Marilyn, He is survived by his children, Deborah Bardsley of Grafton, Darlene Corrow of New Durham, NH, Karen Geyssel and her husband Michael of Cologne, Germany. He was the loving grandfather of Jason Caliri, Clint Bardsley, Jessica Woods, Kate Corrow, Sarah, Kirstin and Christopher Geyssel. He was the loving great grandfather of Leah Woods, Collin and Haley Caliri.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home. 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, August 2nd, at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., MEDFORD, at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 thru 8 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in James' memory to the charity of your choice helping Veterans.
