Obituary

Augusta, GA - Myrtle Louise Shead wife of the late W. Kenneth Shead passed away July 27, 2013 at her home with her daughters by her side.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 30, 2013 in Westover Memorial Park with Rev. Charles Broome officiating.

Myrtle was born November 4, 1929 in Fort Mill, SC. She is the daughter of the late Frank and Jessie Mae Stringfellow. Myrtle was preceded in death by three sisters Nettie Mae Stringfellow, Bessie Cochran, Clara Sizemore and one brother Robert Stringfellow. Mr James Arnold Sizemore surviving husband to Clara Sizemore has remained a faithful Brother-In Law to Myrtle.

Myrtle and Kenneth Shead have two surviving daughters, Patricia Shead Ford (Wayne), Menia Shead Mongold ( Charlie). Myrtle and Kenneth were married for 52 years. They were blessed with one Granddaughter, Dawn Ford Deal O'Kelley and two Great Grandchildren, Carleigh and Nataleigh Deal. The loves of Myrtle's life were her family and she had intense pride in her home.

Myrtle grew up during the Great Depression and learned early how to make much out of little. She was a resourceful woman and was very talented at sewing and decorating her home. She had a passion for flowers and spent countless hours beautifying her yard. Myrtle was a member of St Mark United Methodist Church and she was retired from the J.P. King Manufacturing Co. of Augusta,GA after 50 years of faithful service.

The family feels a special gratitude to the outstanding staff of Saint Joseph Hospice Care and especially Dee Campbell, Sherri Allison, Betty Hammond, Cindi Reimer, Amy Holliday, Chaplain Tom Kalliokoski and Dr Danny Newman. All these gave faithful professional service and treated Mother and her family with love and kindness. The final days of life for our Mother would have been much harder had it not been for their skilled and caring attention.

In lieu of flowers it was mother's wish to request that any offerings of love and respect be given to St Mark United Methodist Church, Augusta Rescue Mission or Golden Harvest Food Bank.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening, July 29, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
