Marguerite L. “Peg” (Davis) Brault, age 75, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 26, 2013 at the Golden Living Center Garden Place in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of Edward J. Brault to whom she was wed on June 7, 1958.
Born in Ayer, MA on July 10, 1938, she was a daughter of the late James and Lillian (Legree) Davis. She grew up and was educated in Ayer and had attended Chicopee High School.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Brault had worked as a housekeeper for 5 years at the Norton Country Club. She had previously been employed as a housekeeper at LaSalette Shrine in Attleboro, as a receptionist at Comey’s Cleaners in Norton and had also worked at the former Mason Box Co. in Norton.
Peg was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. For nearly 40 years she was a member and past president of the Norton VFW Post 8049 Ladies Auxiliary and was a member as well of the Norton American Legion Post 222 Ladies Auxiliary.
A resident of Norton for the past 44 years, Peg treasured the times spent with her grandchildren and while involved with the Norton VFW, shared her love and talent of knitting and quilting by making many youngsters mittens and scarves.
In addition to her husband of over 55 years, she is survived by her devoted sons, Timothy R. Brault of Wareham and Michael J. Brault of Attleboro. She was the dear sister of James Davis and his wife Janet of Chicopee, Robert Davis of Springfield, Richard Davis and his wife Jeannette of Chicopee, Thomas Davis and his wife Valerie of Fairview, John Davis and his wife Debbie of Munson, Mary Fontaine and her husband Rene of Chicopee and Florida, and the late Raymond Davis and William Davis. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Eric, Nicholas, Shannon, and Alyssa Brault, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Wednesday, July 31st at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 P.M.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 30th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, Peg’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Norton VFW Post 8049, 38 Summer St., Norton, MA 02766.
