Dracut – Antoinette R. Brox passed away peacefully on July 25, 2013 at her home in Dracut, MA. She was 93 years old. She will be remembered for her quiet grace and her patience.
Born in Lawrence, MA on March 31, 1920, Antoinette was the youngest daughter of Nicola and Sabbatina Rossi, who had immigrated to Lawrence from Fontegreca, Italy. Her two sisters, Antimina and Joanne, predeceased her.
After her graduation from McIntosh School of Business in Lawrence, Antoinette worked in the Merrimack Valley office the New England Milk Producers Association where she met her husband, farmer and state representative, John Brox. They married in 1952, and she began an entirely new chapter in her life, leaving the city of Lawrence to make a home and raise four children on the Brox Farm in Dracut.
Her husband, John Brox, died in 1995. Their children, Margaret of Rumney, NH; John of Dracut; Jane of Brunswick, ME; and Robert of Valence, France survive her. She is also survived by three grandchildren - Nathan Everts of Rumney; Kathryn Everts of Dover, NH; and Elliott Brox of Valence; her son-in-law, Brian Flynn of Rumney, and her daughter-in-law, Sandrine Robin of Valence. She leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. Her niece, Margaret Ciardello of Lawrence was particularly close to her, and a companion to her in later years.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Antoinette's life by gathering for calling hours at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, 233 Lawrence Street, Methuen on Wednesday, July 31st from 4-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Church in Dracut on Thursday, August 1st at 9 AM. Burial will follow in Richardson Cemetery in Dracut.
The family has requested, in Antoinette's honor, memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Parish, 115 Wheeler Road, Dracut, MA 01826 or to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack Street, Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
