Rev. Delmar Handley, 70, of Rochelle, Georgia, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at Dorminy Medical Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be 11:00 A M., Thursday, September 2, 2004, at First Baptist Church of Rochelle, with Rev. Jay Moore, Rev. Jim Wiley and Rev. Brad Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Frank Cemetery, Irwin County. Visitation will be held at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald from 7:00 until 9:00 Wednesday evening.
Rev. Handley was born October 3, 1933, in Irwin County, Georgia to the late George Leonard and Effie Tucker Handley. He lived in Rochelle for the past 16 years. Rev. Handley was a member and Associate Pastor Emeritus of First Baptist Church of Rochelle. Formerly a heavy equipment operator, Rev. Handley had been a Minister of the Gospel since 1965. Together, Rev. Handley and his wife served many churches including: Hacklebarney in Blackshear, Deenwood in Waycross, Stokesville in Axon, Brookfield in Tift County, Pleasant Hill in Rebecca, Tabernacle in Rochelle, Callie Garbutt in Fitzgerald, Terrell in Worth County and Macedonia in Telfair County.
Rev. Handley is survived by his wife: Betty Handley, Rochelle; children: Debbie H. Pollard, Puyallup, WA, Rick Handley, Kay H. Cruz, Sharon H. McCrimmon and Mike Handley, all of Fitzgerald; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two sisters: Jerell Morgan, Ocilla and Shelby Ritch, Dublin.
