Obituary

LOWELL—Anne M. (Dulkie) Dowling, 81 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Monday August 30th, at her home in Centralville. She was the wife of James J. Dowling, with whom she celebrated 56 years of marriage in May of this year.

She was born in Lowell, on September 30, 1922, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Michalina (Kazlauskas) Dulkie. She was a graduate of Lowell Public Schools and Lowell High School. She received her nursing degree from the Concord State Hospital School of Nursing, in Concord, NH.

Mrs. Dowling was an Ensign during World War II and served as a U.S. Navy Nurse. After her discharge she was employed as a pediatric nurse at the former St. John’s Hospital for over 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Michael’s Church and held membership in the Holy Rosary Sodality of that parish. Her goal was to spend time with her entire family.

Surviving her are her five children: Joanne M. Kelleher, of Lowell; James J. Dowling, Jr. of Rye, NH; Paul F. and his wife Lee (Mangelinckx) Dowling, of Ashburnham; Nancy J. Daly, of Lowell; and Colleen A. Pierro, of Andover; six grandchildren: Michael P. Dowling, Katie A. Daly, Jillian M. (Kelleher) Aburub, James J. Kelleher, II, Frank M. Pierro, III; and Christina M. Pierro; a great granddaughter: Saarah M. Aburub; also several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Joseph A. Dulkie, Jr.; Olympia Zedalis; and Sister Helen Michelle Dulkie, SSC; and mother-in-law of the late: James J. Kelleher; John C. Daly, Jr.; and Frank M. Pierro, Jr.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday, September 1st, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to be offered Thursday, September 2nd, at 10 AM at ST. MICHAEL’S CHURCH, Lowell. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
