John A. Medeiros, Jr., 93, of Westport died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Rita (Castilloux) Medeiros.
Born in Westport, he was son of the late John A. and Mary Ann (Pereira) Medeiros. A United States Army veteran of WWII, he was a P.O.W. in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a Communicant of St. George Church, Westport. Prior to retirement, he worked for the former Newport Finishing in Fall River. Mr. Medeiros was a charter member of VFW Ouellette Post 8502. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson Carl, Jr., who he was an avid race fan of.
Including his wife, survivors include a son: Carl J. Medeiros and his wife Tina of Westport; a daughter: Carol A. Medeiros of Westport; 2 brothers: Frank “Chic” Medeiros of Dartmouth and Joseph Medeiros of Northfield, MA; 2 sisters: Mary Arruda of Fall River and Leah Gomes of Fall River; a grandson: Carl J. Medeiros, Jr.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother of the late Inez “Agnes” Medeiros.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Monday, July 29, 2013 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Sunday 4 – 7 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
