Obituary

THOMPSON – Edward H. Larsen, 69, of 5 Highland Road, died Monday, August 30, in Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam, after being stricken ill at home.

He leaves his wife of 28 years, Avis R. (Willett) Larsen; 2 sons, Mark S. and his wife Joan Larsen of Colchester, CT, and Kevin E. and his wife Renee Larsen of Toledo, Ohio; a daughter, Marni C. Larsen of Thompson; a brother, Philip Larsen of Somerset, MA; a sister, Marion Keegan in Florida; 8 grandchildren, nephews and nieces.

He was born in Augusta, Maine, and raised in Bath, Maine, son of Philip T. and Ruby B. (Mullin) Larsen. He lived in Uxbridge and after his military service moved here in 1975. He graduated from Uxbridge High School in 1953.

Mr. Larsen served in the United States Army for 22 years, retiring as a chief warrant officer. He then was traffic and fleet manager for Interoyal in Plainfield. He also worked for RPS, retiring in 2001. He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Putnam.

The funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, Sept. 2, in Scanlon Funeral Service, East Main Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, North Grosvenordale. A calling period will be from 9:00 to 10:00 AM Thursday at the funeral home.
