Florence A. (Widuch) Correia, 81, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully on Tuesday July 23, 2013 at St. Luke's Hospital with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Ronald Correia, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Stanley and Gladys (Tobojka) Widuch, she had lived in Dartmouth since 1961.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. She had previously belonged to St. Hedwig's Church, where she volunteered making dinners for the priests for many years.
Mrs. Correia was a pediatric registered nurse who began her long nursing career on the Lumbard Ward at St. Luke's Hospital. In 1965, she began working in the office of Dr. Anne D. Saunders, where she was a loyal and dedicated nurse for 31 years, until her retirement in 1996.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Simmons College, and Boston Children's Hospital School of Nursing.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy J. Lally and her husband Richard of Acushnet; her daughter-in-law, Ann M. Correia of Nevada; two grandchildren, Lauren and Steven Correia; and many cousins.
She was the mother of the late Paul S. Correia.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. Burial will follow in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
