Obituary

Carlton Sidwell, 73, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, August 30, 2004, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M., Wednesday, September 1, 2004, at Arbor Baptist Church, with Rev. Duane Fernandez, Dr. Lloyd Stembridge and Rev. Brent Duncan officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Sidwell was born July 19, 1931, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Edgar B. and Linnie Connell Sidwell. He lived in the community most of his life. Mr. Sidwell was a retired Locomotive Engineer with CSX Railroad and a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. A life-long member of Arbor Baptist Church, he was a deacon, a member of the Charity Sunday School Class, a former Sunday School Teacher and R.A. Leader. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Sidwell is survived by his wife: Barbara Sidwell, Fitzgerald; son: Eddie Sidwell, Fitzgerald; daughter: Cindy Cowart, Fitzgerald; step-daughters: Angela Kinnett, McRae, Julie Swain, Leesburg and Cheryl Cooper, Camilla; ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother: Clay Sidwell, Ellijay; sisters: Carolyn Foxworthy, Buford and Betty Gentry, Chula. He was preceded in death by his first wife: Anne Lou Sidwell.
