Annis Hipps Morgan, age 92, passed from this life Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. She was born in Taylor, MS, to the late Emmet Guy and Ama Gestle Foust Hipps. For much of her career Annis was employed at Champlin Petroleum Company in Ft. Worth, TX, where she retired in 1985. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting and was an amateur photographer.
Annis and her husband, George, were members of the Riverside Christian Church in Ft. Worth, TX, where she was also a member of the choir. After returning to Water Valley, she moved her membership, faithfully attending and serving in the church choir at First Christian Church. Annis is remembered as a kind and gentle lady. A quiet encourager, she showed her love for friends and family in countless ways. She was a great blessing to all who loved her.
A visitation will be held Friday, July 26, 2013 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Seven Oaks Funeral Home in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held at 1 pm July 26, 2013 in the Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks immediately following the visitation with Bro. David Freeman officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
Annis is survived by her sister-in-law, Jimmie Kathryn Morgan; nieces Marilyn Blankenship, Melissa DeWine (Kelly), Donna Kay Grinnell, Peggy Harvey (Timothy), Jerry Jenkins and Janice Prickett (Dan); nephews Jeffrey Hipps (Sharol), Ed Morgan (Deb), and Steve Morgan. She is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews; Colleen Bellanger (Jeffrey), Kyle DeWine,
Shawn DeWine, Deric Harvey (Jessica), Jessa Harvey, Kaylyn Harvey, Kevin Herrera (Gail), Jackson Herrera, Gregory Hipps, Troy Hipps (Julie), Ryan Hipps, Clark Jenkins, Morgan Jenkins, Rex Jenkins, Jonathan Prickett, and Kathryn Prickett. Additionally, she is survived by many cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lewis Morgan; her brother, Willie Rayford Hipps; and nephews, Michael Hipps, Charles Jenkins, Robin Jenkins and Warren Sager.
