BUCKNER Jr, David M., 88, of Louisville, died at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield, IN, July 18, 2013.
He was born March 13, 1925 in Bonneville, KY. He lived most of his life in Louisville, KY. He was a World War II Veteran, and later joined the Merchant Marines, for whom he was an engineer on ships he sailed around the world. He was a graduate of the University of Louisville and continued his education there until he was 70 years old. He was a member Masonic Lodge #862. He loved life and his family. We will miss his wisdom, humor and good times together.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Gertrude Buckner; his first wife, Dottie Bowles Buckner; and brothers, Jim and Bill Buckner.
He is survived by his wife, Helen (Fletcher) Buckner; step-children, Anna Petty (Jeff), Becky Eickleyberry, Debbi Springer (Steve), Diane Sweeney, Mark Malson, (Anna) and David Hart (Dixie); sisters, Genie Heckman (Ray) and Maggie Oester (Ken); sister-in-law, Betty Buckner; 13 step-grandchildren and 24 step great grandchildren.
His service will be 12 Noon Wednesday at Owen Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday 3-8pm and Wednesday after 10am until the service at the funeral home.
