CHICOPEE – Eric M. McCourt, 23, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Home on Monday, July 15, 2013 surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on January 3, 1990, a beloved son of William J. McCourt, Jr. and Dori C. (Ohren) Wotus. He was raised in Chicopee and then lived in Wyoming for several years, returning to Chicopee around 2008. Eric previously worked for Larkin Tree Service in Southampton and had recently moved to Lynn, Massachusetts to work as an arborist for New England Tree Company in Saugus, Massachusetts. Eric was a person who enjoyed the simple pleasures in life including fishing, hunting, kayaking, the view from the top of a tree, and his special gift and love of cooking. He was a die hard New England sports fan who loved the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics. He leaves his beloved mother, Dori C. (Ohren) Wotus and her husband who was his loving step-father, Joseph Wotus, of Chicopee; his beloved father, William J. McCourt, Jr. and his companion, B.J. Hirsch, both of Casper, WY; his loving sisters, Megan Minassian and her husband, Hagop, of North Providence, RI, and Samantha Wotus of Chicopee; his loving paternal grandmother, Lorraine Scott and her husband, Gordon, of Chicopee; his loving paternal grandfather, William McCourt and his wife, Diane, of Chicopee; his cherished aunts and uncles, Paula Sullivan and her companion, Paul Girouard, of Windsor, CT, Charles Sullivan of Chicopee, Michael Ohren of Omaha, NE, David and Michelle Cronkright of South Hadley, his uncle and godfather, Charles Cronkright and his wife, Fran, of Chicopee, Donna McCourt of Belchertown, Laura and Jack Crowley of Chicopee, Susan Briotta of Feeding Hills, Maryann and Gary Raymond of Teaticket, MA, James and Diane Wotus of Los Gatos, CA, and Kathy and Ralph Dorval of Conway; his beloved “Papa”, Joseph Wotus of Feeding Hills; his dear cousins and many extended family members and friends. Eric was predeceased by his loving maternal grandparents, Paul Ohren and Claire Reinke; and his cherished aunt and godmother, Sharon Koske. His funeral will be held on Monday morning, July 22, 2013 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 21, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in Eric’s memory to either Honest Beginnings, PO Box 3699, Amherst, MA 01004 or to TC New England-Boston Men's Center, 11 Newcomb Street, Roxbury, MA 02118.
