Obituary

Robert L. Oberg, age 68 of Canton,MA, formerly of Pender, Nebraska died July 17th after a heroic battle with leukemia. He was a graduate of Pender High School, Wayne State and Texas A and M. A veteran of the Vietnam War he served for 7 years as a Captain in the Air Force. He was employed as a computer systems analyst at various companies in the Boston area. He retired from ING in 2012.
Bob was especially devoted to Saint John’s Choir where he sang for over 25 years. His days were brightened by his 20 month old identical twin grandsons William and Finnegan Brown.
Beloved husband of Louise C. Scanlon-Oberg (Canton) and father of Heather Brown (Somerset) and Laurel Cawley (Canton). Father-In-Law of Kenneth Brown and Matthew Cawley. Brother-in-Law to Kathleen and Raymond Henningson of Brockton.
His Nebraska family includes his 96 year old mother Mildred Oberg Ellyson of Pender, sisters Mary Jane Kot (husband Petro) of Lincoln and Beverly Kai (husband Gene) of California. His father was the late Lester Oberg and brother the late Fred Oberg.
Visiting hours at the Dockray and Thomas Funeral home on 455 Washington Street, Canton Friday, July 26th , 4-8 pm. Funeral mass at St. John the Evangelist Church, Canton on Saturday, July 27th at 10:30. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. John’s Choir, 700 Washington Street, Canton Ma 02021 or American Thoracic Foundation(ATS) 25 Broadway, 18th Floor, New York, New York 1004. (Bob had a lung transplant)
