Hazel G. Morris, 90

Hazel G.(Bennington) Morris, age 90, of Norton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro.
She was the beloved wife of the late retired U.S. Army MSgt George W. ”Sarge” Morris who died on October 23, 1983. Mr. and Mrs. Morris were wed on July 4, 1942.
Born in Lexington, Virginia on January 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late David H. and Hassie V. (Knick) Bennington. She grew up and was educated outside of Lexington.
A resident of Norton since 1966, Mrs. Morris was a retired machine operator, assembler and inspector at the former Texas Instruments in Attleboro where she had been employed for 20 years. Following retirement she worked part time at the former Mason Box Co. in Norton, and when younger was a cosmetician in various parts of the country while her husband was stationed in the service.
Hazel was a member of the of the Norton American Legion Auxiliary where she had served as a past historian and was also a member of the Norton VFW Auxiliary.
Mrs. Morris was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, crocheting and most of all, spending time with her adoring family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her devoted children, George W. Morris and his wife Patty of Camden-Wyoming, Delaware, Michael H. Morris and his wife Dorothy of Taunton, Stephen J. Morris of Camden-Wyoming, Delaware and Tamara S. Morrissey and her husband Jack of Norton. She was the dear sister of Pauline Chittum of Kerrs Creek, Virginia and the late Eva MacAllister, Nancy Padget, Mary-Anita Stasica, Lillian DiPietro, Shirley Reardon, Helen Bennington, Earl Bennington, Ernest Bennington and Warren Bennington.
She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Darlene Lynn (Morris) Borza and her husband Anthony, George Robert “Robby” Morris and his wife Wendy, Richard Morris and his wife Marlene, Brian Morris and his wife Julie, Rebecca Morrissey and Samantha (Morrissey) Negrini and her husband Patrick; great grandchildren, Brittany, Anna Theresa, John, Lilly Anne, Anthony, Patrick, Katelyn, Joseph, Chloe, Dylan, Lindsey Marie, Julia and Grace Elaine, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, July 20th at 10:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday July 19th from 5:00 -8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
