TAUNTON – Joseph J. Medeiros, husband of Donna (Rogers) Medeiros, died peacefully at his Taunton home on July 14, 2013, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was 68.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alice (White) Medeiros.
Raised and educated in Taunton, Joe was a 1963 graduate of the former Taunton Vocational High School.
A retired truck driver and maintenance supervisor, he was employed by Hallsmith – Sysco, retiring several years ago.
He had also worked for the Southeastern Construction Co.
An avid fisherman and past treasurer of the Atlantic Fish Club, Joe enjoyed fishing all over Westport and Cape Cod, especially Race Point.
A longtime member of the Mass. Beach Buggy Association, Joe also enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, making his own fishing equipment, and working in his yard.
He was a member of the Portuguese American Civic Club, the Taunton Boat Club, and the Italian Naturalization Club; and was a communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church.
Joe’s favorite pastime was enjoying the company of his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of Taunton, Joe leaves his son, Joseph R. Medeiros and his wife Julie of Dighton; two brothers, William Medeiros and his wife Helen, and James Medeiros and his wife Cheryl, all of Taunton; three grandchildren, Jordan, Jamie and Josh Medeiros, all of Dighton; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, July 19th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 18th from 5 to 8 p.m.
