WEBSTER - Hilda Marie (Crowley) Remy, O.P., 95, of Lockport, LA, formerly of Webster, died August 20 in Lockport. Her husband, Gerald A. Remy, died in 1986.
She leaves 4 grandsons, Richard, Albert, and Robert Cannon, and Kenneth Quinn; a granddaughter, Meredith Quinn; and extended family. She was predeceased by a daughter, Rev. Sister Marie-Therese, O.P.; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Remy; 2 brothers, William H. Crowley, Jr., and James Crowley; and 2 sisters, Anna M. Carter and Julia A. Talbot.
Mrs. Remy was born in Yonkers, NY, daughter of the late William H. Crowley, Sr., and Anna M. (Morrissey) Crowley, and lived in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Florida before moving to Lockport.
She was a woman of many fine talents: a devoted wife and mother, a teacher of catechism, and the first perpetually professed member of the Heart of Jesus Chapter of the Dominican Laity.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 10, at 12:30 PM in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Webster. There are no calling hours. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either the Domincan Contemplative Sisters, 155 Church Street, Lockport, LA 70374, or to the Bayou Region Hospice, 195 Corporate Drive, Houma, LA 70360.
