Edward V. Cannon, 83 of Franklin, MA died peacefully holding the hand of his beloved wife Joan on July 12th.
Born in Newton, MA on July 30, 1929, Edward is the son of the late Edward F. and Alice (Kinchla) Cannon, and also the stepson of the late Helen K. Cannon Ward. Mr. Cannon was raised in Newton and then moved to Millis, MA in 1957 to raise his family before moving to Franklin, MA in 2003.
Mr. Cannon proudly served his country in the Army Reserves during the Korean Conflict. Before his retirement in 1991, Mr. Cannon worked for the Boston Edison for forty-one years. He loved the Boston Red Sox, Notre Dame Football, golfing with his sons and spending time with his daughters, seventeen grand children and two great grand children. Most of all Edward loved just being with his wife, Joan.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Joan M. (Campbell) Cannon. His children, Fr. Richard Cannon of Hopkinton, Fr. Kenneth Cannon of Scituate, Robert Cannon and his wife Aline of Wrentham, Maureen de la Rosa and her husband Dr. Jose Manuel of El Paso, TX, Edward Cannon, Jr. and his wife Alicia of Norfolk, Kerry Sullivan and her husband Patrick of Lancaster and Moira Cook and her husband James of Blackstone.
He is also survived by his sister Marian Coffee and her husband John of Dennis.
Mr. Cannon’s funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 18th from the Ginley Funeral Home, 131 Main Street in Franklin followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, One Church Square in Franklin.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Waltham.
