James H. Spanks, 89, a resident of North Andover since the late 1950's, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2013 at the Sutton Hill Center, North Andover after a brief illness.
Born in Lawrence in 1924, James was the youngest son of the late James and Ellen (Corcoran) Spanks, and was the last surviving of 8 siblings. He was a 1942 graduate of Lawrence High School and had served in the United States Army during World War II. James had been employed for many years as the custodian at the Stevens Library in North Andover. Prior to that he had worked for Holihan's Brewery in Lawrence. He was a member of St. Michael's Parish in North Andover.
The husband of the late Marilyn (Poole) Spanks and father of the late James D. Spanks, members of James's family include:
a daughter: Mary Jo Fram and her husband Tom, a son: Christopher Spanks and his wife Gail DeLucia, a daughter-in-law: Maria Deschamps, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the staff of Sutton Hill Center for their excellent care and kind support during a difficult time.
